Ireland announces date for high-level conference in Dublin: 18 November 2022

Ireland has issued a save the date inviting States, UN agencies, international and regional organisations, and civil society to a high-level international conference in Dublin on 18 November 2022 to formally adopt the Political Declaration on strengthening the protection of civilians from the humanitarian consequences arising from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

Further details relating to the conference, including agenda, logistics and registration details will follow, along with translated copies of the political declaration in the six official languages of the UN.

States wishing to endorse the political declaration are invited to communicate this at the earliest possible date by Note Verbale to the Permanent Mission of Ireland in Geneva and New York.

INEW, together with Dóchas, will convene a civil society forum in Dublin on the eve of the signing conference, on 17 November, which states delegates, international organisations and civil society are invited to. This event will celebrate this important milestone of the signing of the political declaration, and convene participants to think about next steps towards its implementation. A registration form will be circulated shortly.
