INEW and the ICRC will be hosting a regional briefing at the ICRC mission to the UN in New York for African states:

18 October, 09:00 – 10:00 for African states

These briefings will provide information to states in each region about the recently agreed Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences arising from the use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas, including the significance and purpose of the Declaration as an instrument aimed at addressing civilian harm from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas; and to provide an overview of the commitments in the Declaration and steps that states can take to start to implement the Declaration.
