The International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW), with the Norwegian Red Cross, is co-hosting the Protection Forum on Monday 22 April, prior to the Conference on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas.
The Protection Forum is aimed at providing a space to bring attention to the needs of people and communities affected by explosive weapons, and in a format that is conversational, interactive and with a focus on bringing to the fore the voices of people with lived experiences. Hear more here.
It aims to provide an open and interactive space that discusses how to meet the needs of conflict affected communities and fosters genuine dialogue to address to strengthen the protection of civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. Additionally, it will provide content in a format that attempts to provide accurate and honest storytelling of the impact of explosive weapons on civilians which should in turn encourage participants to redouble efforts to strengthen the protection of civilians through the Political Declaration framework.
